Jane Barker (Owner)
Jane has been a physiotherapist since 1988 and has gained broad experience in acute care settings on maternity wards, in both public and private hospitals in Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Hobart. It was as a result of her time on the Calvary maternity ward that Jane developed a passion to improve the lives of patients suffering continence issues and returned to university, travelling to Melbourne to undertake post graduate studies in Pelvic Floor and Continence Management.
Since 2004, Jane has been the principle of her own practice working exclusively in the areas of pelvic floor rehabilitation, continence and sexual dysfunction. Throughout her career as a pelvic floor physiotherapist Jane has been committed to professional development in order to optimise her knowledge in her chosen field. She has been a mentor to other physiotherapists as well as providing many pelvic floor education sessions to the general community as swell as other members of the medical fraternity.
Jane is a member of the Continence Foundation and The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia. She is a past chair of the APA Continence and Women’s Health Group.
Janet graduated as a physiotherapist in 1990 and has gained a broad range of experience in all areas of physiotherapy. She worked in Sydney, London, Darwin and remote areas of Central Australia before settling down here in Tasmania.
After working in antenatal education at Royal Hobart Hospital she developed a love for women's health and went on to complete post graduate studies in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation. Janet has worked at the Pelvic Floor Clinic since 2012 and has had fantastic mentoring from Jane Barker.
Janet is passionate about working with women and men with pelvic floor dysfunction and is committed to providing sensitive and quality care with an individual approach.
To ensure that patient care is evidence based she attends courses and conferences regularly. Janet is a member of the APA and Continence Foundation of Australia and has recently completed a Professional Certificate in Prolapse management through University of South Australia.
